Some information to understand the tradition of Midwest Games.

The Midwest Games 2008 is an event organized by the Malaysian Student Association at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in coordination with the Malaysian Student Department at Evanston, Chicago.

The event brings Malaysian Students from all over the country to participate in sports and cultural activities. This year we expect to see students coming from Washington to Florida, totaling a collection of about 1000 students. The event is focused on different sports, cultural activities and a banquet. The Midwest Games is a tradition being followed since 1970 and has been organized every year in every other university in Midwest. This year the Southern Illinois University Carbondale is proud to host the Midwest Games 2008.

The Midwest Games gets a respected attendance from the Malaysian ambassador to the United States, the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education and many other respected dignitaries. The games are held during the memorial-day weekend in May.

We promote Malaysia and most importantly, international diversity. This year the theme of the event is prosperity through unity.
